I absolutely love this style of hat, I’m a beginner and have made a few blankets and a couple hats. I’m just not good enough to follow a pattern unless it’s a tutorial. Is there a video that I can follow along with?

Hi Kristen,
You can still follow the decrease rounds as written. The only thing that will be different is your total stitch count at the end.

In reply to Lynne. Just love this pattern but like you I too added 12 stiches to the hat body by making *1 hdc in first stich then 2 hdc in next stich* all around for a total of 36 stiches! Maybe my wool was not as bulky. But still I love it and beleive me will make more in all colors... thank you for the pattern.

Fantastic and Fun. I added a few extra rows for the head band and a few on the hat. I checked before decreasing. I finished off by rolling up the hem and

Crocheting in the backstitch is also called the camel stitch or the 3rd loop. Here’s a video that will help.

Hi Natasha!
The first round stitch count doesn’t have to match. You can add more stitches, and more rows to the hat band, for a looser fit.
