Easy Beanie Crochet Pattern
This easy beanie crochet pattern is a great beginner project. It uses basic stitches to create a fun ribbed texture that’s anything but basic. If you can crochet a rectangle you can make this hat. (yay for easy)

The free crochet pattern is written in 6 sizes to fit babies all the way up to men. There are also 2 styles of this ribbed beanie, fitted or slouchy.
My daughter, Everly loves a fitted beanie. Brecken, my son, thinks the slightly slouchy fit is cool.

Another way to style this ribbed beanie is to make the slouchy style and fold the brim up to create a fitted brimmed beanie. So many options with this one. You’re sure to find a fit the whole family will love.

Let’s chat about yarn. I chose a lightweight #3 DK weight yarn for a couple of reasons.
- I like a lightweight hat for babies.
- The ribbing was spaced too far apart with the thicker yarn. I tried this stitch pattern with different yarns and it looks best in the DK weight.

Helpful Tips
- Chain 1 at the beginning of the row does NOT count as a stitch. Work the first hdc in the first stitch of the row and work the last hdc in the last stitch, not the turning chain.
- The pattern is written for the smallest size with the larger sizes in parenthesis.

Special Crochet Stitches
- FLO Crochet in the front loop only across the entire row.
- BLO crochet in the back loop only across the entire row.
